Activities
Colonial Gardens at Austin employs a life enrichment director and two assistants who provide activities that focus on what are often called the seven dimensions of wellness: intellectual/cognitive; physical; emotional; social; occupational; spiritual; and environmental. Programs are designed to interest and engage our residents while meeting these needs. View the sample activity calendar below.
Besides participating in the programmed activities, residents have numerous options for spending time alone or with others, such as:
- Listening to live musical entertainment provided twice each week
- Enjoying a lovely day on the covered backyard deck
- Relaxing in one of the indoor community spaces
- Exploring the secure, beautifully landscaped yards or walking trails
- Watching a favorite TV show from the comfort of their in-room recliner (guests must provide their own TVs)
- Visiting with family or friends or using a group phone to chat
In addition, representatives from local churches visit every week to meet residents’ spiritual needs.
We also try to keep residents connected with our immediate surrounding community as much as possible. This includes supervised visits to the library, church, and garden just across the street from us.
Family members are welcome to take their loved one out for a day or a few hours as desired.
